Behind the Stitch: How Our Shirts Actually Get Made

Ever wonder who actually makes your favorite hoodie?

No, seriously — not just which country or which factory. But who. Like, the people. The hands. The faces behind every seam, every thread, every tag.

At Shirt For Dad, we’re kinda obsessed with the little stuff. And we think you deserve to know how your clothes come to life — from sketchbook to sewing table to that moment it becomes your go-to hoodie.

It starts small — like, kitchen-table small

Our first prototypes? They were literally sketched on the back of receipts. We didn’t have a fancy studio. Just a lot of stubborn ideas and an old T-shirt that fit so perfectly, we measured it 17 different ways. (Yes, we still have that shirt.)

Today, things have grown — a bit. But the process? Still human. Still thoughtful.

Made with people, not just machines

We work with local workshops, not giant factories. Most of our partners are family-owned businesses. Real people who’ve been sewing longer than we’ve been alive — and still care about crooked stitching like it’s personal.

Every shirt, hoodie, or sweater you get from us has passed through actual hands. Not just quality control. Real attention. Real pride.

We think that matters.

Why slow is better than big

Could we produce faster? Sure. Could we cut corners? Of course. But that’s not the point.

We don’t want to be everywhere. We want to be your favorite. And that means doing things the way we’d want them done: slowly, carefully, and always with feeling.

So if your order takes a day longer than Amazon, know this — it’s probably because someone double-checked the stitching. Or ironed the fold just right. Or packed it with a handwritten note. (Yes, we still write them. By hand. Always.)
